Access Denied! Age Restricted!

I went to the public library the other day on my way home. Since I was out all day I also decided to check my email. Since I never used this public library's internet computers I was not aware of the procedure to reserve a station. I looked around for a sign-in sheet. I couldn't find any. I then spotted a computer terminal with a bar code reader. Shoot! Someone left their wallet out wide open with other belongings next to it. I did not want to go near it in fear of someone thinking I was stealing a wallet. Just as I go to find a security guard the owner of the wallet comes back with the librarian. Apparently the library patron left his wallet and belongings by the terminal. He was frustrated with the bar scanner not working. The librarian tried to get it to work with his card and she couldn't get it to scan. Eventually, she took it back to her desk and took down a reservation for him. I tried to scan my card and also had difficulty. I asked the librarian for assistance and was told that if I wanted to go on the internet right now I could just login at a terminal for a timed hour session. Sounded great... I tried to login and it seemed to work until I pressed enter with my barcode and password. I was given an error message that flashed something about being "Age Restricted". I went back over to the librarian to tell her I am somehow age restricted from the computer. I thought the pubic library system used a date of birth system. Apparently, when I signed up for a library card I was entered into the category 12-17 since at the time several years ago I was in fact a minor. The librarian informed me that the library system does not update the date of birth automatically. To get to the point... The librarian had to change my account status to an adult. Such an archaic system!!!
